Conquest 2010
Conquest 2010 needs your support!
Last year, at Conquest 2009, we all heard that the Brisbane Conquest Convention was to be no more. Of course we’ve heard that before, but this time it appears to be a very possible reality.
Having started in 1982, and having run annually without interruption since then, we feel it would be a terrible shame if Australia’s friendliest Sci-Fi weekend party is allowed to fade away.
From general conversations with a number of attendees and regular guests, we’ve come to feel that there may still be a fair amount of support for the general concept of the convention, and a considerable desire for it to continue.
For our part, we’re willing to organise and finance a Conquest 2010 Convention, but only so long as the desire for the event is really there. While we’re content to put in the hours, and accept a reasonable financial loss for staging something so many people enjoy, we don’t want to proceed if it’s likely to simply be an awful lot of work, a big hit to our bank balance, and not really embraced by the Conquest community.
At this stage, we need to see your level of interest for the event, so we can decide whether it’s worth making this happen. If there’s sufficient initial support, then Conquest 2010 can definitely happen.
If you’re genuinely interested in attending a Conquest 2010 convention, you initially just need to let us know. Depending on the responses we receive, we’ll take it from there.
